At Søvn European Sleep Systems, we’ve searched throughout Europe to find the cleanest, most durable components available. We believe that a mattress can be comfortable and long lasting, yet kind to the environment and safe for you. Our flexible slat suspension, carbon steel coils, natural latex foam, pure wool, and stretch cotton covers combine to create a full system that provides the ultimate in comfort and support.
Flexible Slat Suspension
A foundation of durable, curved wooden slats provides flexible support for our mattress. Forget undifferentiated box springs. A slat suspension provides independent support, with no sag or roll-together. The suspension system can be tuned to match each individual's body contour and ease pressure points.
The slat suspension is versatile
With its adjustable support, a slat suspension provides the optimum contour according to your comfort preference. The slats give and rotation constantly respond to the shifting planes of your body. And the slat settings can be modified to accommodate changing body needs or comfort preferences over time.
Slats are a popular alternative to what we're used to. The slat suspension was invented in Switzerland over 50 years ago and accounts for about 70% of the bed sales in Europe, yet it is relatively new to America. In the Dallas area, Søvn is the exclusive retailer for the adjustable slat suspension system.
Natural Latex
Most American mattresses use synthetic foam
It has several drawbacks:
- The structure is fragile and breaks down quickly, forming sags.
- It does not support the body correctly (either too stiff or too mushy).
- It traps moisture, making for hotter sleeping temperatures and a favorable climate for dust mites, molds, and mildew.
We offer a better alternative
Inside the Søvn mattress, we use the highest-quality natural latex foam rubber. Natural latex foam provides:
- Serious support for the back.
- Even cushioning - no sags and depressions.
- Resilience -resumes shape immediately.
- Durability - lasts 3-4 times longer than synthetic foams.
- Moisture-resistance - ventilating structure dries quickly.
- Anti-allergenic properties - significantly anti-bacterial, mold-free, and dust-free.
Our latex foam is 100% natural
Our latex foam is 100% natural and is certified by the Öko-Tex Standard 100 confirming that it conforms to the strictest European standard for harmful substances and chemicals in mattresses.
Handmade Coils
The trouble with the innersprings in most mattresses is that they're built to handle body mass but not the bony pressure points: shoulders and hips. The mattress resists those areas, causing added stress.
The right support with little motion
Our carbon steel, German coils are hand-assembled in a honey-comb layout. They give "head-to-toe" support, yet allow enough give to reduce pressure at the high contact points. Because of our unique honey-comb design, our coils move independently, responding to your body contour and weight, but only exactly where you need it.
More coils equals more support
Our mattresses also have more coils than most other mattresses: up to 2760 in the Magnolia and Willow styles. Compare that with 700-1,000 in even the premium American mattresses. Coil count has very little to do with mattress durability, but it does affect performance. More coils mean more "active" points in the surface of the mattress and that translates to better contour and support.

Lightweight Wool
We love wool
It's the ideal fiber for sleep comfort. That's why we use it as a mattress filling and why we carry so many wool bedding products.
Wool is an excellent temperature regulator. The permeable nature of natural wool allows air to circulate freely. It absorbs moisture - up to 30% of its own weight in water vapor - and evaporates it evenly.
You sleep more soundly
Other blankets and comforters sleep "hot." Sleep is disturbed when you wake up hot and clammy. But wool creates excellent insulation, while simultaneously creating a drier environment. It provides true thermal balance.
All-natural wool is clean and it stays clean. Because it fosters a dry environment, wool is highly resistant to dust mites and other allergens.
Organic Stretch Cotton
Covered in comfort
We finish our mattress with an organic stretch cotton cover quilted to wool. Our high-quality German cotton is specially designed to optimize airflow and to contour to the surface of the body. This reduces humidity and surface tension, resulting in a responsive cover that decreases pressure.
Our cover is built for function, with a zipper providing full access to the mattress components, and it is treated with Bioneem. Natural neem oil provides environmentally safe protection from dust mites. And since the cover is lined with fire-resistant wool, we never spray our mattresses with chemical flame retardants.
The same natural stretch cotton fabric covers our plush wool and latex pillowtop and our Oxygen pillows. It is also available as a washable, removable mattress pad in every bed size.
